Carbonate deposits of the Arabian Platform: from sedimentary architecture to micropores
Mathieu Deville de Periere, ingénieur chez Saudi Aramco, soutiendra l’HDR lundi 22 juin 2026 à 14 heures, amphithéâtre Billet.
This Habilitation à diriger des recherches focuses on the sedimentology, stratigraphy, and diagenesis of the Mesozoic carbonate platforms of the Arabian Platform, located on the southern margin of the Tethys Ocean. The research program developed over the last 15 years investigates the distribution of various carbonate factories and their associated allochem assemblages, linking paleoclimates, paleoenvironments and biotic assemblages to understand the broad stratigraphic architecture of the carbonate platform during the Mesozoic. The diagenetic processes, including dolomitization and cementation, are also integrated in a tectono-stratigraphic regional framework in order to understand their impact on the carbonate platforms and the development of pore volume, with a specific focus on microporosity.
